473: Forgiving Our Money Mistakes with Rabbi Yisroel Bernath, Author of The Forgiveness Experiment

B”H

What if one of the biggest obstacles in your financial life isn’t actually a lack of financial strategy?

What if it’s something you’re still carrying — a grievance, a mistake, a financial decision you wish you could undo, or a story from the past that is quietly still running your relationship with money? Maybe it’s time to forgive all that.

Forgiveness is the topic of my conversation with Rabbi Yisroel Bernath, best-selling author of the new book The Forgiveness Experiment: What Would Your Life Look Like If You Let It All Go?

Known to many as the Love Rabbi, Rabbi Bernath is the senior rabbi of Rohr Chabad NDG in Montreal. He is also a matchmaker, screenwriter, actor, and now a best-selling author.

The Forgiveness Experiment grew out of Rabbi Bernath’s own 17-year personal journey of forgiveness. We talk about forgiving ourselves for financial mistakes, forgiving others, even forgiving God, and why we sometimes keep what Rabbi Bernath calls “emotional receipts” in our marriages.

Rabbi Bernath takes us through some of the exercises from the book.We also talk honestly about Rabbi Bernath’s own financial mistakes, money anxiety, trust, and tzedakah.

This episode is a big reframe of forgiveness—one that I think you’ll find very refreshing, empowering, and helpful. Here’s Rabbi Yisroel Bernath.
